Even after the ACA cut the subsidy to Medicare Advantage Plans enrollment continued to grow. MA plans typically add extra benefits and in many cases without additional premiums above the Part B premium. A little over a third of Medicare beneficiaries have elected this private insurance alternative. The plans with most enrollment have been rated high quality as well.

  1. So did I read this report correctly? If you manage expenditures, you’ll manage plan costs and save money compared to an open ended, a blank check, see anybody you want, anytime, anywhere plan?

  2. Thanks for posting this. I volunteer my time as a SHIP (Senior Healthcare Insurance Program) counselor, and I’m frequently asked to compare Medicare Advantage Plans vs. Original Medicare. This information will definitely help me be more effective in my volunteer role.
