Observations on life

What wrong with Americans? You can sum it up in two words

I look around and it’s perfectly clear.

People who are just lazy, who don’t care about others, who expect someone else to do things for them, who have little regard for their own or others property, who shun even modest exercise.

Those words are “shopping carts.”

Put the cart back where it belongs for Pete’s sake‼️

  1. There is a solution coming to a store near you for this problem. The European style supermarkets that are scaring the American chains required that you to put a quarter to get a cart and then you get your quarter back when you returned the cart. This was tried with American supermarkets back in the late 1980s but with $15 / hr wages, just like self checkout lines, this too will become the norm. Just for the record, in Green Bay, WI, they have baggers in addition to the cashier and very few self checkout lanes. In New Jersey, you can check yourself out and bag yourself unless you want to wait for the lone cashier.

    • I am visiting my son in Muskogee, OK (in from MT) and was having trouble getting a cart to release at ALDI, a women just gave me her cart, when she was done with it and said just use this one. When I was done with the cart I left it at the rack (I need all the exercise I can get) with her quarter in it. I wish we had ALDI stores in MT, they have the basics and beat Walmart and others hands down. A local supermarket had ribeye steaks for $14.99 per pound, ALDI price $8.99 per pound. I know when I shop at ALDI I am always saving money, it is the only store that you can really say that about. I will not use self checkout, if I am going to pay highway robbery prices, someone is going to checkout and bag the stuff. I love the pickup service at Sam’s Club and Walmart, order online and let the store employee fill your order, in and out in just 5 minutes, with no impulse buys or screaming kids to put up with.

  2. I was at a small but extremely busy family business where I was returning the shopping cart to the front of the store when an elderly employee was coming out to gather them. He was astonished that I was bringing it to the corral! I understand exceptions but you are right. It seems that people are lazy!
