At Work

Underpaid

Teachers are underpaid, teenagers are underpaid, women are underpaid seniors on SS are underpaid, no skill minimum wage workers are underpaid.

I never met a person who didn’t feel they were underpaid.

The fact is nobody is underpaid because they are paid what facts and circumstances dictate they can be paid. That goes from taxpayer affordable funding to their performance (worth as AOC says) to job competition on to demand for one’s skills.

If you are truly worth more than you are being paid in your job, go find another job where your value is appreciated. Not that easy you say? Have you tried?

If you have tried and can find nothing, perhaps you are not underpaid at all.

  1. These are probably the people who work paycheck to paycheck. I am betting that they spend every penny because the think they have guaranteed income, medical, and some form of pension. These are probably the people who have $100k in student loans for being a part time park ranger or social worker job. TSA workers make less than you in retirement. But that is no excuse. There have been 10 shutdowns since I entered the workforce in 1980. I worked for a union for 33 years and I had a strike fund that I never had used. Maybe these federal workers should have a shutdown emergency fund because they seem like they will more than likely use it.

    • Atossa – During the government shut down I could not believe that government employees who were sent home did not have any savings or access to credit, to help them until they went back to work. I have access to $45,000 in credit lines, with retirement income of just $36,000.
