The great American Con – Falling for the Socialist dream

As we have been told over the centuries, the greatest threat to America will come from within. Once again we appear on the verge of such a threat. This time disguised as a better social order. Americans are being lulled into complacency and mediocrity and encouraged to ignore individual responsibility. 𗁆

Americans are being conned …and many appear to welcome it.

A con man (otherwise known as a politician) is:

“a man who cheats or tricks someone by gaining their trust and persuading them to believe something that is not true.”

“One who gains the trust, or “confidence”, of his victims (often called marks) in order to manipulate, steal from, or otherwise predate upon them.”

Six easy steps being used to con Americans:

😡 Create the drumbeat of inequality

🤬 Create highly visible scapegoats

🤨 Convince people society is unfair and rigged against them

😏 Make it easy for people to blame others and avoid responsibility

🤪 Convince people they are entitled and deserving

😁 Make appealing promises for free programs, and fairness

In the end you have a population dependent on government, and those in power at any point in time, for every social need from birth to death. Promises that future generations must struggle to keep.

If you don’t believe that, ask yourself why politicians have not dealt with the fiscal problems facing Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and in many cases state employee benefit obligations. The answer is they fear raising taxes and revealing true costs.

In the end all promises will be the problem for younger generations with fewer carrying the burden for more and more Americans.

Once in place, Americans are trapped in their dependency.

What makes Americans so susceptible to such a con?

. . . a kind of built-in desire to believe, which helps the con artist. Is that an American thing, or a human thing?

That’s a good question. On some level it’s a human thing: We all see ourselves through slightly rose-colored glasses. But “I deserve this,” or the concept of “that’s not fair, someone owes me” — that’s quite American.

  2. OK. Best option I heard someone propose that might once and for all curtail socialistic tendencies regarding the United States as a whole – as you all described them above. Socialism would still be possible in each and every one of the 50 states.

Article V of the U.S. Constitution describes how Congress “on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments.” So that means we need 34 states to agree to a constitutional convention. How is that accomplished?

Start with even more aggressive gerrymandering. Today, the GOP controls the legislature in 31 states, and of those 31, 26 have republican governors. Gerrymandering will likely increase GOP control to 34 state legislatures, then, we need to find 10 or so top members of Congress/Senate to compete for Governor.

So, each state focuses primarily on a single campaign issue – promises to eliminate the federal income tax, and to choke off revenues to the federal government beyond the limited, enumerated powers). Socialism in reverse. No progressive taxation to correct for “income inequality”.

Once we have 34, we have each vote on a constitutional convention with only two agenda items:
    – Reversal of the 16th Amendment, the income tax, returning us to
    – Confirmation that a national wealth tax is unconstitutional.

Prior to the income tax, America funded its federal government using tariffs, customs duties and public land sales. Time for a national sales tax – essentially, an income tax on what you don’t save.
    .
Article I, Section 8 provided: “… The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States. …” Uniformity essentially precluded an income tax.

This would leave FICA and FICA-Med unchanged, however, the federal government would have to push back to the states funding for Medicare Part B, Medicare Part C and Medicaid. Same would be true for education and other health and welfare.

If you have to prevail upon your neighbor, three things happen:
    – First, there is no “deep pocket” of taxing people from other states, and
    – Second, if you have illegal immigrants, not much of a chance for a local government to bestow benefits on that population, because when they raise taxes on citizens,
    – Third, people can and will migrate to other states.

  3. What makes Americans so susceptible to such a con? Maria Konnikova writes that “If it seems too good to be true, it 100% is too good to be true.” I think that too many people are too lazy or too pressed for time that they don’t want to do the work; therefore, they WANT to believe.

I think there some other things that are helping with the socialism push.
    1) Lack of schools teaching history. We are no longer learning from our past mistakes.
    2) Colleges have become liberal socialism factories and opposing points of view are not tolerated in the name of equality and diversity but don’t you dare to be different by thinking otherwise to these values or you will be excluded. Diversity of thought is not tolerated.
    3) Colleges no longer teach critical thinking. Think like us or you do not pass the class.
    4) Although the press might be free in America, they are not free to follow unpopular points of view if they want to stay in business. Money does all the talking. Money does most of the talking in politics too.
    5) Social media has replaced valued, trusted, and well researched informational sources. Social media now has to ability to promote propaganda in minutes to millions of people that results in instant feedback and reactions to that propaganda. Flash mobs and protests can happen now in hours instead of days. In the 1930s and 1940s it took months and years to get the same results via movie newsreels, posters, and newspapers. Factual tweets can be drowned out by hundreds of false retweets in seconds.
    6) Rejection of science. It is one thing to question scientific theories and to validate them but some are so well proven as fact it is hard to believe that some people can state true facts as being false. For example, it is hard for me to believe that modern educated people and celebrities can promote the Flat Earth Theory and then use their phone’s GPS to drive around town.
    7) The too many people are willing to give up their liberties and privacy to nameless corporations just to use technology and now we have become the Borg Collective. Maybe Star Trek got it right without the cyborg implants.

Since the technology users have already given into the “collective thinking”, it is not a far leap to have the collective government do everything for you. Socialism is no longer a seed but is already growing. Why shouldn’t government provide everything just like “free aps” for their phones.

    • Dwayne – The mainstream media is controlled by the deep state intelligent agencies. CIA FBI NSA ect. How else can you explain all the coverups. If you watch the major networks ABC CBS NBC each night, they report almost the same exact stories, except for a human interest story at the end. Come on, there has to be more going on in a nation of over 325 million.
Mainstream Media is nothing more than a propaganda echo chamber, to fool the sheeple.

You are correct about social media, that is why I stay off Facebook – what a waste of time.

“The too many people are willing to give up their liberties and privacy to nameless corporations just to use technology”

There is no privacy in today’s economy, unless you use cash. It is the information age and your data is sold every day. My sister’s mother in law went to a lawyer and had a living will made. On the will they spelled my sister’s name wrong. Phillis instead of the correct spelling Phyllis. Within a week she was getting junk mail with her first name spelled Phillis.

As for liberties, we now have a police state that will issue you a ticket or arrest you based on lies and incorrect interpretation of the law. To maybe later be dropped because there is not any evidence to prove the police allegations. Just remember all the police shoot first actions that are in the news. I have had to ask police off my property and tell them they are done talking to me and my minor children, unless they summons us to court. Still waiting after 16 years no summons, just bullying citizens because they wear a badge. Why is it ok for the police to lie to the citizen but, the citizen is committing a crime, if they lie to the police.
If you see something say something, your papers please, what is this Nazi Germany.
Police called on an 8 year old girl walking her dog by herself, parent could see the child from her house. Police found no problem, but Child Protective Service wasted 2 weeks putting this family through the ringer. What a waste of tax dollars.

“Since the technology users have already given into the “collective thinking”, it is not a far leap to have the collective government do everything for you.”

Don’t you mean do everything to you. Just know, that a government that has all the power to give you everything you want, that they also have all the power to take everything away from you, including you freedom.

Dwayne, I know from reading your many posts, that you already know this stuff. I am writing it so other readers of this blog know it also.

      • This is off topic, but you got my blood boiling again over the 8 year old walking her dog. I walked 1.25 miles to and from school at age 5. The State said you have to be 2 miles from school to be bused. I wonder now if the parents get the police called on them if they can’t pick up their kids? I can’t imagine what these people would in the cities where some students have to ride public transit buses.

      • Oh do I agree with you. They are saying 60% or more of the population believes they want Socialism. Did they ever get taught what that was in school???? no. Ask the person on the street for the definition. During the convention; there was a kid wearing the American Flag and professing Communism. He was asked what does that stand for? no answer. he had no idea. but he was telling folks this is the way to go. dumb. He was a Sheep. following a leader.
We HAVE to start teaching History. WW1-2-Korean, Nam. We cannot wipe it out because it doesn’t sound nice. History repeats itself.
