The world I’d like to see …. a very, very powerful government, including a federal government 😮

Look, if I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see, and I think what we have, in this city at least, are people who would love to have the New Deal back, on one level. They’d love to have a very, very powerful government, including a federal government, involved in directly addressing their day-to-day reality. Bill de Blasio New York Magazine 9-4-17

Is this the America you envision, a place where a large government takes care of your day-to-day needs?

While that government is busy taking care of us, I wonder who will be taking care of it?

Who in government do you trust making decisions for your life, involved directly in your reality?

  1. I was reading and hoping that wasn’t your opinion. When I saw who it was, it figures. I am not surprised that he said that. He is a Democrat and believes in re distribution of wealth. I DON’T.
If you work and if you can invent something or start a business and you make it, Fantastic.
Hopefully, you do give back to your community somehow. But to have a government such as Socialism, Fascism, Communism running MY life. NO way. The cronies we have in Government now are big and with fat wallets. Rules and regulations are one thing to protect the general public but having people running our lives, telling us where to work, how much we can make, what we can do with those wages, NO. How many countries have FOUGHT for their freedoms???
why do so many want to come here? They were controlled and they don’t want to be.

  2. The Mayor of New York City says plainly what those on the left wing desire. It’s painful to realize he will probably get re-elected. Government controlling income is OK with the millions of New Yorkers who have no earned income. Government controlling rents is OK with those who pay no rent, or whose rent is artificially depressed by rent control.

According to Joel Kotkin in “The New Class Conflict”, “domestic migrants are moving away from metropolitan areas with denser urbanization – such as New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, and Chicago – to less dense one. Between 2000 and 2009. a net of 1.9 million people left metropolitan New York…: ” (page 101.)

New York City has lost much of the middle class. De Blasio accelerates the trend.

  3. You asked who? Why The Donald, of course!

45 years ago, Tricky Dick Nixon.

Ten years from now, Elizabeth Warren, Pocahontas, herself.

    How absurd!

How many New Yorkers voted for this ass, anyway?

  4. I read a book many years ago called “The road to serfdom” by F. A. Hayek that describes where this type of thinking leads. I don’t think the likes of De Blazio or Bernie Sanders have read it or if they have, they hope to be the ones in charge when they have their centrally planned state.

  5. Even China and Russia have given up on that idea of total government control. I can’t imagine NYC as a gray, cinder block town with no innovations at all. I believe he is also in favor of telling you what you can eat and drink. Not all American are lemmings and maybe this is one reason Trump got elected. Can we please have someone who is in the middle?

    1. I forgot that Boss Tweed was in favor of big government too in NYC. Now there is a statue that they should erect to keep NYC from forgetting its past. A corrupted government at its finest and a government that tried to control everything.
