This article worth reading. Of course, it is written from a physicians point of view. It contains some valid points, overstates others and misreads a few, but mostly it overlooks two things. Most of the 8 reasons stated can be addressed and most important … such systems “work” around the world and for all their issues and problems and cost, they are liked by the citizens of the countries where they operate.
Given the deepening problems the US health care system(s) faces and the great divide in opinions about it, something major has to change and whatever that may be, it has to involve all Americans.
P.S. Considering all the administrative hassle being foisted on physicians, the variety of payment systems they must deal with, the distractions from patient care and more, sooner or later they will welcome a single system.
