Do You Believe Women On Average Earn 79% Of What Men Earn As A Result Of Outright Discrimination?

Apparently politicians do so they pass laws that are unworkable and have little to do with the cause of the problem they seek to solve. Do you think your coworkers have a right to know what you earn? And if they do, should they always earn the same amount? 

This new law (State of Maryland) increases transparency in the workplace by allowing employees to ask about, discuss, or request information about wages without fear of retaliation or being fired and bans employers from forcing their workers to sign waivers regarding wage discussions or information requests. Some of the greatest barriers to women being able to better negotiate and secure equal pay are the result of many companies discouraging or outright banning employees from discussing or asking about their wages. This blanket of secrecy has made it almost impossible for women to know if they are being underpaid for comparable work done by their male counterparts or to seek relief under federal, state, or local laws.

  1. Well, I am glad it was Maryland. What do I predict? Employers will move jobs, where possible, from Maryland to Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia and Delaware!

    Md. lost nearly 30% of millionaires last year, Comptroller’s office offers no explanation

    Maryland’s chief tax collector reported that the number of millionaires in the state plunged 30 percent last year to the lowest level in four years and that some wealthy residents might have moved.

    The analysis from the comptroller’s office is expected to stoke a debate over the General Assembly’s decision to raise an income tax rate for millionaires, a budget-balancing move it enacted in 2008. While the comptroller’s office makes no conclusions about the data, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are likely to seize on the findings.

    Detractors contend that the millionaire’s tax, which started in the 2008 tax year, will drive wealthy residents to lower-tax states. Proponents say those fears are overblown and that the change made the tax code more progressive and provided much-needed revenue.

    2012 studies posted by the group Change Maryland: Change Maryland is citing new job figures that show Maryland losing more than 10,000 jobs this year – more than any state in the nation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said Maryland lost 11,000 jobs in June alone — the third worst performance in the nation.

    Change Maryland says the state’s high taxes and fees make it one of the most highly taxed states in the nation and have chased away jobs and job creators. The “millionaires’ tax,” which imposed a top rate of 6.25 percent on people making $1 million or more, expired in 2011, but there is talk of reviving it.

    Maryland has raised taxes and fees 24 times since 2007, costing the state economy $2.4 billion.
    Change Maryland also says Maryland has lost 40,000 jobs since 2007 – more than any state in the region other than Pennsylvania.

    People can and will vote with their feet. No chance you will see something like this in Texas.

  2. I am glad I am out of the workforce, with these idiots passing no worker left behind laws.The end result will be, lower wages for men, so they are “Equal” with women. Or will some company not expand their workforce, because as long as you do not have over 25 employees you are exempt.
    Or, just make sure no women does the same exact job as a man. I see these kind of laws creating legal discrimination as long as you follow their rules.
