Endorse Bernie’s Plan to Take on Wall Street

Today, we live in the richest country in the history of the world, but that reality means very little because much of that wealth is controlled by a tiny handful of individuals.

Wall Street’s dangerous manipulation of our economy has helped divert most of all new income to the top one percent, contributing to the most unequal level of wealth and income distribution of any major country on earth. We need a system that works for all of us, not just the millionaires and billionaires.

“divert most of all new income to the top one percent”

What the hell does all the above mean? What kind of system do we need? Should we scrap the stock market? Isn’t the biggest manipulator of our economy government? Exactly what do you expect from a Bernie Sanders run Country?

      • Listen again – yes, he disagrees with their carried interest taxation rate, but he also has said that they are parasites who contribute nothing when they use their billions to manipulate the markets and profit from people of lessor means – I traded building materials commodities for 35 years – I was employed by a seller of those products – my cherished manufacturers and I both thrived in steady upward markets – the commodity wholesalers needed to make the markets move to make profits and they disrupted steady markets whenever they could find a way – much like the Wall Street hedge fund managers of today – that is why I understand that Bernie, Elizabeth, Trump et al are correct when they say that “the game is rigged” – you haven’t lived it and you do not understand – (respectfully)

      • Let’s assume you are correct, explain to me how their manipulating the market up or down has a direct impact on average workers or how this “rigging” inhibits opportunity or wages for Americans.

      • We are the same age – if you need to have me explain the basic economics of Wall Street’s impact on our economy and the “middle class” to you, perhaps you overslept and missed a few classes? – Bernie gets it, Elizabeth gets it and even Trump gets it – I respect your knowledge of health care very much – stay with what you know and don’t embarrass yourself

      • Indulge me, tell me how the system is rigged and hedge funds and others on Wall Street negatively impact average Americans. Warren, Sanders and others like them spout populist rhetoric to garner votes. Besides, without all the billionaires who is Bernie going to tax so he can keep the masses happy?

      • Well I searched up and down and could find nothing from a Trump that was not this: “The hedge fund guys are getting away with murder,” he said on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, reiterating comments he had made to Time magazine. Of course, the issue was taxes. “They’re paying nothing and it’s ridiculous. I want to save the middle class,” Trump said. “The hedge fund guys didn’t build this country. These are guys that shift paper around and they get lucky.”

Yes, they make money and lots of it by playing the market. Everyone with a 401k plan hopes to do the same do they not? It’s called gambling. But I fail to see how this constitutes rigging anything against the average guy. Hedge funds go bust too and people lose a lot of money.
