The August 2012 CPI-W number has just been reported and has increased over the July number raising the outlook for the 2013 Social Security COLA to about 1.4%.
The average CPI-W for July and August now stands at 226.312 compared with an average of 223.2337 for the third quarter of 2011
Once we have the final CPI-W for September 2012 (around October 15th) to complete the third quarter average, we will know the actual COLA for 2013.
